Laos: Girl Facing Charges After Resisting Attack
Nang Tookta Phetsomphone has spent almost six months in a Laotian prison after her former employer was stabbed and killed during his attempt to rape the young Christian woman. Patrick Klein of Vision Beyond Borders told VOM Canada's Greg Musselman that Tootka was arrested after authorities realized her father Bountheung Phetsomphone was a pastor, and they are now using the situation to force the family to forsake Christianity. In order to be released, Tootka’s family must pay a fine of $11,000 dollars (US) and renounce their faith. Pastor Bountheung has been previously arrested twice for his Christian activities.
