  • Kidnapped Optician Killed in Southern Region

    On October 13th, a British optician who had been kidnapped was killed shortly after singing the hymn, Amazing Grace, to lift the spirits of his fellow hostages. Ian Squire, 57, was killed instantly by shots fired by one of the four gang members who abducted him and three other Christian aid workers from their clinic in the country's lawless Delta state. The gunmen refused to give any information as to why the shots were fired.

  • Misuse of Blasphemy Law in Review

    Members of a Pakistani parliamentary committee believe it's necessary to prevent the misuse of the blasphemy law. On November 23rd, Senator Nasreen Jalil, the chairwoman of the Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights, announced that innocent people have suffered and been wrongly accused of blasphemy. Therefore, the committee is looking to reconsider procedural changes to prevent misuse in the future.

    In September, six Christian couples were arrested and interrogated by police for eight hours. During this prolonged session, the believers were pressured to renounce their faith and stop conducting worship services. Although two newly converted Christian couples had initially renounced their faith out of fear, they renewed their commitment to Christ just days later.
