A Christian woman and her five children have been forced into hiding after receiving death threats demanding that she convert to Islam. Despite these warnings, Naseem Bibi has refused to abandon her faith, even though it means having to flee home with her five children, who range in age from eight to 22.

The threats are part of an ongoing campaign instigated by a militant Islamic group in their area that has already forced approximately 100 people to convert. As part of the group's program initiative, Naseem's husband was offered a house, along with promises to cover all wedding expenses for their four daughters. Unfortunately, these promises have resulted in Naseem receiving added threats from her husband, who is prepared to accept the militants' lucrative offer.

Despite the multiple threats received, Naseem has stood firm. "I was born a Christian and will remain a Christian until my last breath," she declared. "And I'll make every effort to make my children stronger Christians and [ensure] they marry Christian partners...."

As a local church provided Naseem and her children a temporary shelter, the pastor has been questioned by those searching for the threatened Christian woman. Speaking of the militants seeking to take her life, Naseem explained: "They are too powerful, and we have no resources to fight with them. We need urgent legal and financial support."

While addressing the situation, Nasir Saeed, Director of CLAAS-UK, stated, "The reality is that the forced conversion of Christian and Hindu girls is happening in Pakistan, and [it's] one of the most serious concerns now for religious minorities in the country." Despite this problem, the Pakistani government has failed to enact legislation to protect the nation's religious minorities. Pray for the Lord's divine protection over Naseem and her children, as well as those providing them a place of shelter. May this family in peril receive greatly needed support and encouragement to continue standing firm in their commitment to Christ. In particular, pray that Naseem's children will be given the spiritual nurturing and care they need to be raised in the ways of the Lord. Intercede for those seeking to harm Naseem, including her husband, that they may come to see the truth of the Gospel and willingly turn to faith in Christ.

  • Pray for Pakistan

Pray that amendments will be made to Pakistan's existing blasphemy laws so that the country's citizens – including its children – will be protected from injustice and abuse. May our Lord's mercy and justice prevail, not only in the judiciary system but also in the hearts of the country's militants. Ask Him to transform their "hearts of stone" into hearts that are receptive to His love, mercy and the workings of His Holy Spirit – not only for the purpose of protecting the Christian minority but also for the salvation of their own eternal souls.
