Christian Girl Raped and Forced to Convert

An 18-year-old Christian woman named Raiza was recently abducted for ten days by a Muslim man who repeatedly raped her and forced her to convert to Islam. According to a November 2 report from AsiaNews, Raiza went missing after visiting her aunt in Faisalabad on October 21. Her family contacted a Muslim man named Sajid who had harassed Raiza in the past but he claimed to know nothing of her whereabouts. On October 31, Raiza returned home and told her parents that Sajid had abducted her, assaulted her and pressured her into converting to Islam. Raiza's father filed a complaint with the police but no action has been taken to apprehend her abuser.

Ask God to give Raiza healing from the assault. Pray for Raiza and her family as they will struggle with the ability to exhibit God's love to their persecutors (Romans 12:14-21). Pray also for protection for Pakistan's Christians during the turmoil that is enveloping the country since President Pervez Musharraf declared a state of emergency.

  • Pray for Pakistan

Pray that amendments will be made to Pakistan's existing blasphemy laws so that the country's citizens – including its children – will be protected from injustice and abuse. May our Lord's mercy and justice prevail, not only in the judiciary system but also in the hearts of the country's militants. Ask Him to transform their "hearts of stone" into hearts that are receptive to His love, mercy and the workings of His Holy Spirit – not only for the purpose of protecting the Christian minority but also for the salvation of their own eternal souls.
